Are autism and autistic spectrum disorder the same thing? Pls help me understand. A 3 y.o. child with delayed speech problem (about to start speech therapy)-- doc report mentions ASD (didn't mention the smae verbally to parents)

They are Not same. Plz take opinion from developmental paediatrician before starting speech therapy .they have various scales used for diagnosis .ur child may be having simple social communication  disorder ..treatment differs
