Iron bisglycinate (Ferrous Bisglycinate 60-100 mg daily) – Gentle on the stomach, less likely to cause constipation. Take it with Vitamin C (like lemon water) for better absorption and fiber-rich foods to prevent constipation.

What is your Hb level? Please consult a General Physician and share your CBC report. That will confirm if it is really Iron Deficiency anaemia. There are non-pharmacological treatments for Iron Deficiency anaemia. You may also get Intravenous Iron (that will depend on the basic level of your Hb.

Dear Patient,  Anemia and constipation can indeed be challenging to manage together, especially when iron supplements worsen your symptoms. Here’s what I recommend:  1. Type of Anemia Matters: As Dr. Jyoti pointed out, not all anemia requires iron supplements. Iron tablets are only effective for **iron-deficiency anemia**. Other types (e.g., vitamin B12/folate deficiency, chronic disease anemia) need different treatments. A proper diagnosis (CBC, iron studies, etc.) is crucial.  2. Gentler Iron Options:     - Liquid Iron (e.g., Ferrous Ascorbate) Better absorbed, often gentler on the gut.     - Heme Iron Polypeptide: Causes fewer GI side effects.     - IV Iron Infusion. If oral iron isn’t tolerated (as Dr. Sushma suggested), this bypasses gut-related constipation entirely.  3. Constipation Management:     - Increase fiber (flaxseeds, psyllium), water intake, and physical activity.     - A stool softener (e.g., Lactulose) or osmotic laxative (Miralax) may help temporarily.  Next Steps  -Consult a Specialist: Self-medicating for anemia can delay proper treatment. Let’s confirm your anemia type and tailor a plan—whether it’s adjusted iron therapy, infusions, or other interventions.  For a detailed evaluation, reach out to me directly. Iron can cause constipation in some individual. Better to correct anaemia by eating natural food if it’s not that severe. And it’s too low than you can take 2-3 injections. And some anaemia doesn’t cause only by iron deficiency but also there are several reasons. So first diagnosed your anaemia properly.
