The typical healing time for acute fissures is 4-6 weeks with proper treatment2. Continue using the prescribed medications (sucralfate and cremaffin) as directed. Dietary Recommendations Foods to Include: High-fiber foods: Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes Hydrating foods: Cucumbers, watermelon, oranges Prunes or prune juice for natural stool softening Foods to Avoid: Spicy foods Dairy products Processed/fried foods Caffeine and alcohol59 Additional Measures Take regular sitz baths Maintain adequate fluid intake (8-10 glasses daily) Avoid straining during bowel movements Use stool softeners as prescribed When to Seek Further Care Consider consultation if: Pain persists beyond 8 weeks Fissure remains visible after 16 weeks Symptoms worsen despite treatment The key to healing is maintaining soft stools through proper diet and hydration while following prescribed medical treatment.
