Alopecia Barbae

Hello, I've been developing beard patches since August 2020. I've tried home remedies and homeopathic medicine but the patches only seemed to grow and there was no growth of hair. In March 2021, I consulted a skin doctor who prescribed the following :- (Prelid 16, Levotab 150mg, CDP-Z, VO369 & Tackon Forte Solution) The medication was for a period of 2 months. But due to lockdown, I wasn't able to take medicines for 20 days in between after which I had continued my medication for 15 days now. My progress in filling of patches has been mediocre and only one out of the 3 patches have gotten filled up thus far. I feel I will have to switch up my medication. With the Medication presumably affecting the efficacy of the vaccine, which I'm due for the end of this month, kindly advise me on what my next course of action should be. Regards, Pramodh R

You may be suffering from alopecia areata. This is an autoimmune condition which happens due to the attack of lymphocytes on the hair roots which results in the formation of bald patches on the scalp. It can affect any hairy of the body including eyebrows and beard. It has to be treated properly for long duration till the time the autoimmunity comes down.If not treated, the bald patches can increase to affect large areas. If it is treated early complete hair growth always happens. Please contact me with photos using online concert option for proper treatment.
