Your father is taking medication for physical illness as DM, HTN * AGE above 60* There are certain precautions need to be taken before starting medications at higher age for aggression or hyperactivity, : You must  have a NCCT done , a holistic assessment of symptoms of aggression along with mood symptoms, sleep, memory need to be done before starting medications or making a diagnosis If NCCT comes normal, after assessment it's dementia or other illness, medication at low dose will be planned * Second if CT have some findings, a neurologist have to be consulted * On net you can read about vascular dementia,, vascular depression or mania that are common in such age having comorbities as you mentioned

Age related issues can be there If you are starting medicine on your own then please dont start. Sudden aggression and meaningless talk at his age can be due to infection, low sodium, thyroid issue, or early dementia For his issues doctor need to take detailed history and along with assessment

Sertraline is not a medicine to treat aggression. Please don’t medicate your father without consulting a psychiatrist. Considering his age, aggression has various causes. Will need evaluation first.
