Usually absences are problem of childhood. But i have seen patients who present with recurrence in adulthood as well. So nothing is 0 percent or  100 percent in neurology, and same goes for absence seizures as well. With proper medications, absence seizures are cured by the age of 18-20, but if there is recurrence, prolonged medication course might be needed
