Hello
It’s okay to switch from the private vaccine schedule (painless) to the National Immunization Program. The vaccines under both schedules protect your baby well.
The 6-week vaccine included an acellular pertussis component and IPV (injectable polio), while the NIP includes whole-cell pertussis and OPV (oral polio). Even if your child received IPV earlier, taking OPV now is safe and part of the protection strategy in India.
It’s important that your child completes all 3 primary doses (6, 10, 14 weeks) and the boosters as per schedule — whichever program you follow.
The government vaccine (Penta) may cause a bit more fever or swelling compared to painless ones, but they are equally effective.
