Most of the cough and cold are viral or allergic . you should not give antibiotics to small kids without consulting a doctor. antibiotics are only for bacterial infection and they would do more harm in viral and allergic cases than any benefit. Make sure the child is well hydrated. if there is fever give plenty of fluids and fever reducers like paracetamol. certain over-the-counter antihistaminic may be used in cough and cold.
