The child is having occasional nose bleeding, commonly seen in this age group, especially during cold and cough due to dryness and crusting of nasal mucosa.
If the bleeding is only a few drops and stops on its own, it is usually not serious.
• Keep child calm and make him sit leaning slightly forward during bleeding.
• Apply gentle pressure over the soft part of nose for 5–10 minutes.
• Use saline nasal drops 2–3 times daily during cold to prevent dryness.
• Avoid nose picking and keep nails trimmed.
