Pityriasis rosea is a common skin condition in which a rash develops followed by patches on the skin. The exact cause of pityriasis rosea is not known but it is known to occur due to a virus. Rashes and patches disappear on their own in a few weeks.

The symptoms of pityriasis rosea include large patches with scaly patches on the skin. Patches occur on the head, chest or the abdomen. Before the appearance of the scaly patch some patients experience fatigue, fever, sore throat or headache.
