5. What are the different methods and steps involved in Hernia Surgery?
"Generally, Hernia Surgery is of two methods and they are:
Open surgery
Laparoscopic surgery
Open Surgery:
In open surgery, you will be receiving either a local or general anesthesia.
After you are sedated, the surgeon will make small incisions or cuts to open the area of the skin where the hernia is formed.
Then, the surgeon will gently push the hernia into its original place or in few cases, the hernia will be cut off or tied off.
Later, the muscle area where the hernia is pushed through will be closed by stitches.
If the Hernia is large, then the surgeon will place a flexible mesh for support and helps to keep the hernia from coming back.
Laparoscopic Surgery:
In Laparoscopic surgery, you will be receiving general anesthesia.
As soon as you are sedated, your abdomen will be inflated with the help of harmless gas. This will help your surgeon to look at your organs clearly.
Then the surgeon will make small incisions near the hernia.
A tube that consists of a tiny camera at the end of it will be used to take images. This tube is called a laparoscope.
By using the laparoscope, your surgeon will repair the hernia.
After repairing the hernia, all the incisions made will be closed."
