What is the procedure for medical abortion procedure

My partner and I have decided to abort our child due to personal reasons. We are unsure of the exact process, the risks involved and what preparation will it need. Can a gynecologist or medical expert please inform me about the procedure for medical abortion? A detailed response would be much appreciated!

Medical abortion by pills are prescribed after ultrasound till 7 weeks of pregnancy and pregnancy weeks are  calculated from 1st day of last menstrual date of period and not from day of relationship .
