One of my cousin is facing difficulty to conceive because of some problem in her corpus luteum. Though I’m told the doctors can swiftly treat it, I’m still curious to know the functioning, importance and need for the corpus luteum. Can anyone inform me about the what the function of the corpus luteum is?

The follicle ruptures after ovulation and it transforms into corpus luteum. It starts secreting progesterone which help the fertilised ovum to grow in the uterus.
