What are the causes of heat stroke

I am a 36 year old woman and I work with kids in a school. Generally it so happens that we as teachers don’t have enough time to take care of ourselves at school. Yesterday I was dizzy and I was really very confused about everything happening around me. When I checked with my doctor, he said that I had fever and was suffering from dehydration. Could it be because of heat stroke? It is very hot here and it seems to me like a possibility. What are the symptoms of heat stroke? How do I take care of myself in these times?
