Weakened and sometime numb left hand

Always has an uncomfortable numbness in left hand, specially in index finger and thumb. She is not able to hold something long with those fingers specially. The index finger is kind of bent. We consulted one local doctor and he pointed out to a possible carpel tunnel syndrome. No pain in bones though.
