Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT. You appear to be experiencing positional vertigo or vestibular dysfunction, as suggested by your symptom of spinning sensation triggered by head movement (looking down, walking, or observing motion). The fact that your balance is intact and you’re able to perform daily activities and home exercises is reassuring, indicating that central causes (like stroke) are less likely. You were rightly started on Vertin (Betahistine) and Stugeron (Cinnarizine) by your neurologist, which help reduce vestibular sensitivity.
Next Steps
Continue current medications as advised, typically for 2–3 weeks unless told otherwise. Vestibular rehabilitation exercises (like the Brandt-Daroff or Epley maneuver) are highly effective for benign positional vertigo—these retrain your inner ear balance mechanism. Avoid sudden head movements, especially bending or looking down/up quickly. Stay well hydrated and avoid excess salt, caffeine, or alcohol, which can worsen inner ear symptoms. If symptoms persist beyond 3–4 weeks, repeat nearest ENT or neurology evaluation is advisable to rule out other causes like vestibular migraine, labyrinthitis, or early Meniere’s disease. Get your BP and ear examination checked to rule out any associated causes (like ear wax impaction or hypotension).
