Hi. For any definitive advice a cardiologist needs to personally examine your mother and see all the investigations especially a complete echo report. But in general, In most of the cases a ventricular septal defect (VSD) can be definitely treated with closure. There are very few instances when its closure cannot be done. If somebody has advised you against operation then your mother may be one of those rare cases. But again, i'll advise you to personally show your mother to a cardiologist for any final decision. Hope this helps.
