Type of antibiotic used
I wanted to know how is it decided whether patient required penicilin(amoxilin) or azithromyacin. As in past i have been precribed both at one or the other occasions evem though i had similar symtoms. And isnt antibiotic usage dangerous in long run as it can make body restraint then when is the best course if prescribed one should or should not take them for regular sore throats as such. thank you
Antibiotics should be prescribed only when necessary. All sore throats do not require antibiotics. Only a proper clinical assessment by a well trained ENT Specialist reveal this requirement. Selection of antibiotics also should be guided by strict protocols as arbitrary administration leads to antibiotic resistance and creation of dangerous superbugs!
