Tuberculosis
My brother is 20.he was treated for tuberculosis 2 years ago but he hasn't been well since. He got bronchitis after that. It was cured for a while then he got sinusitis and now the bronchitis relapsed. Amidst all of this the doctor does not prescribe for a sputum culture test to see if the tuberculosis has relapsed. Even on insisting he says that the rest keeps showing positive till some 2-3 years after the treatment. My research on the subject matter however suggests that the test shouldn't.
Hi ! Cough with expectoration in an individual with past TB infection does not necessarily mean a relapse. If clinically indicated , however , a sputum AFB and chest x ray can be done for initial analysis to check for relapse and the cause for the persistence of his symptoms
