In a completely breastfed baby, usually Iron supplement is started after 6 months. Probably your baby is anaemic so your doctor has prescribed.

It depends on why it was prescribed. Normally started after 6 months when solids are started. 0.8 is a little on the higher side if your child is of normal weight and no signs of anemia.
