Tongue cramps - muscular

My brother is experiencing severe cramps in the tongue where the muscles cannot move without pain.. This is not tongue irritation or an ulcer, it is a muscular pain. What might be the problem? Tried salt water rinsing, not helping.

Many people experience simple tremors in their tongues. Often the cause is not known. Occasionally it can occur from conditions which affect nerve transmission to the tongue and may or may not involve other motor nerves. A condition referred to as oral mandibular dystonia, or OMD, may also cause these symptoms. This is a localized disturbance of muscular movement causing involuntary contractions which are often repetitive and may involve the mouth, jaw, and/or tongue. It may occur either from disturbances in the brain or from injury to certain nerves. Treatment could be injection of botulinum toxin if proven OMD.  Feel free to consult Laser Smile Care Centre. God bless u.

This is a very unusual complaint and you need to visit a dentist for the proper diagnosis of this problem..... please avoid home remedies and self medications especially if they are not working for more than a few days.... Regards.....

Take pain killer tablet containing diclofenac such as voveron and do mild gargle with betadine . You will still need to show it to a dentist . There are multiple reasons to get this condition and a thorough check up is required to rule out the actual reason .

I would suggest you to visit near by dentist. The history of pain provided by you is not sufficient.Clinical examination is necessary to rule out the cause for pain.
