Hello doctor, my baby boy is 13 days old..from 4 days he is doing loose stool..he is taking breast milk properly..we are not giving him anything from outside..still loose stool happening.. Is it normal? Weight when born was 3.6 KGS..on 12 th day weight is 3.4..doctor has told he has to gain birth weight on 14 th day..but yesterday he did loose motion 6-7 times after every feed.. I am Sharing his stool photo..plz let me know is it normal..or I should visit pediatrician for any medicine.

Stools of newborns on exclusive breast feeding is... mustard colour, granular, small amount and little frothy. At this age...They pass such Stools frequently but still sleeping well nd feeding well... About weight...they may loose weight in first few days... But should regain birth weight by 15 th day after birth..

routine check up on 15 th day is advisable for all newborns

Hi. This is normal. Feed the baby more frequently 2-3 hrly.

Passing more no of stools is normal in the first 2 to 3 weeks. If baby is dull or not accepting feeds or passing less urine u should meet your pediatrician.
