Thyroid diagonisis
Hi Doctor,
My mother is visiting a general physician amid current circumstances and is been diagnosed with hyperthyroid. The doctor had us performed USG, X Ray and two FNACs of hers in past 10-15 days and is still clueless about what the report suggests. Though has put her on a medicine named Neo-Mercazole 20 ( to be taken twice a day)
We might need to take some sudden steps, if you suggest from reports attached and advise us accordingly. What's her health's status and what should we do!

Hello.. you have not attached the thyroid profile reports.. And if it is showing hyperthyroidism picture, then you need nuclear imaging of thyroid gland to know the cause for hyperthyroidism, and not the tests that have been done.. Ofcourse, we may need USG and FBAC in selected cases.. Some causes of hyperthyroidism will be transient and doesn't require specific antithyroid treatment.. Consult Endocrinologist.

You haven't attached the Thyroid function report. Was a technicium 99 thyroid scan done before starting neomercazole?
FNAC done while having hyperthyroidism may mask the underlying original picture.
Please consult an endocrinologist with all available reports.
