My dr said I have hypertrophied tonsils and it needs to operate. Is it really necessary and we cannot treat this with meds? I have on off pain on left side of throat and it feels something is stuck or a thorn is there from last 1.5 month , changed multiple docs, all said infection but today my physician said it's hypertrophied tonsils

Hi. Greetings Recurrent throat infections with tonsillar hypertrophy is usually an indication for Tonsillectomy. In Adults , tonsils have no role in immunity. It becomes a source of infection.
