Hello dear,
Considering the fact that it is only present on one leg i would want to look for a localised pathology instead of a systemic pathology like
diabetes, hypertension or a
kidney disease. They can certainly cause such kind of a presentation but i would consider only after i have ruled out localised pathologies.
Now, localised pathologies could be a weakness of leg veins (varicose veins) , infection, arthritis of ankle or a lymphoedema.
If you could answer a few questions, i can narrow down the diagnosis:
1. Does he have pain alongside swelling and if yes then where?
2. Does the swelling increase towards the evening and is less in the morning when he gets up?
3. Does he have visible blue veins over the affected leg?
4. Has he had any recent injury to the feet?
5. Does he have fever?
6. Does he experience tingling over the affected leg and feet?
7. And lastly any systemic illnesses like diabetes, hypertension or kidney disease?
