Actually the choice of words for description is not correct.
Abdomen is divided into either four quadrants or into nine regions.
Either way there can be no region which can be described as above the abdomen unless it is outside the boundaries of the abdomen.
It can be epigastric region but a swelling there will be called hernia.
Hernias become painful under special conditions.
So back to my original observation , what can be above the abdomen unless it is in the chest ?
