I can understand your concern.
Yes, you can take artificial sweetners like sugarfree in your coffee but here and there its okay if you take normal
sugar also.
You need to also restrict the intake of foods with a high glycemic index like coconut, rice etc.
Keep a close watch on your sugars and also your renal profile.
Get them checked out once every 6 months.
