Sudden swelling in the scalp and neck

Swelling on the scalp area and back of the neck. Not sure what these are. They are hard and painful on applying a little pressure on them. What could be the reasons please?

Hello there, please provide sufficient history to diagnose. Swelling and tenderness can be due to some muscle spasm which can be due to sudden jerk, vigorous movement of neck. If the swelling is superficial and not discharging any liquid or pus then apply some pain reliever ointment like volini, moov. And give some warm massage to get relief.
