Spreading boils and open wounds on legs

My grandmother had translucent boils on her feet. These boils burst and the skin under them appears pink and oozes a lot of pus. The open wounds don't seem to heal and have spread from feet to knees, thighs and back. She was on Atarax for months but it did not help. Please suggest, what could be the cause ? How can we cure this ?

There can be multiple reasons for such a problem. It can be due to infection or due to diseases like pemphigus . The diagnosis can be correctly made only after seeing them and examining them

Atarax is just an antihistamine and it works only for allergy and itching.  In this case it is not enough to correct the present problem. Depending on the cause your grandmother may sometimes even need to be treated with steroids
