Small umbilical hernia

My mother age 52 done ultrasound. It shows a small defect noted at umbilicus measuring 2cms with herniation of omentum and grade 1 fatty liver. Does she need surgery for hernia? What are the risks after surgery? She has no pain. What caused it. She had four c section deliveries in her 20's

Yes... Surgery is the only definitive cure for hernia. Even though she has no pain, the defect may increase and trapping of important organs in the defect may cause pain in the future. The risks after hernia surgery are no more than those after c-section which she is familiar with.
Next Steps
Consult a General Surgeon in the traditional way (offline)
