Hi everyone,
I’ve attached a note from my doctor (see image). I was recommended a CT urography if
creatinine <1.4, and a CT KUB (plain) if creatinine is higher.
My concern is — CT scans expose you to radiation, and I already have lung issues breathing problem and have undergone multiple CT scans in the past. I’ll probably need more in the future too. That’s why I’m wondering:
Wouldn't an MRI with contrast be a better option?
MRI provides more detailed imaging and doesn’t involve radiation, which seems safer, especially long-term.
Also, to add context, the doctor I saw is a final-year urology student at a medical college, so I want to make sure I advocate for the best option for my health.
Would it be reasonable to ask for an MRI with contrast instead of a CT? Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
