Sharp constant pain in lower bowel area

Have had IBS since 1987 but am having sharp constant pain in lower bowel area, feels like behind the genital area. Have had problem with straining at the bowel for a couple of days but this pain started before that. Is it possible to pull a bowel muscle and if so what's the best treatment?
