Severe constipation in 1st trimester

Can we take "Dey's Milk of Magnesia" during the 2nd month of pregnancy for constipation if someone is not getting motion from the last 3-4 days? Yesterday, my doctor prescribed "Duphalac" 15ml dose at bedtime for constipation, but it didn't work for the constipation problem. I take enough water 2-3 litres per day even though I'm not getting relief. Please tell me if Dey's Milk of Magnesia is safe in pregnancy or not?
