No. Required abstinence is 3 to 7 days. Means more than 3 days and less than 7 days. Never < 2 days,  > 7 days- false positive results. Not required according to guidelines. Pre martial-  get viral markers,  blood group, TSH, HPLC.( appreciated ur idea !!) Precautions for semen testing- 2 to 7 days abstinence Collect in a sterile container (provided by lab) Make sure it won't spill out, if so take photo of the spill to show to lab technician. give the sample with < 1 hr of collection.

Semen analysis should be ideally done with abstinence of 3-5days … as the number of days increases the no/of dead sperms will be more and the result of the interpretation might not be accurate. For further clarification kindly connect

Since you are a medical professional yourself I am sure you appreciate getting the exact clinical guidelines. It is a fantastic and proactive step to get these evaluations done before your marriage. Let us break down your questions so you get the most accurate results possible. Is 8 to 9 days of abstinence okay? No it is definitely not recommended to proceed with the test right now. According to standard WHO guidelines the ideal abstinence period is strictly between 2 to 7 days. If you wait 8 to 9 days the sample will contain a lot of older accumulated sperm. This means your total volume might look falsely high but the active motility will drop drastically and the lab will report a much higher percentage of dead or abnormal sperm. Your best option right now is to clear your system today wait for exactly 3 to 4 days and then provide a fresh sample to the lab. Main Tests Before Marriage Aside from routine blood work and standard viral markers here are the specific tests to evaluate male reproductive health: Routine Semen Analysis: This is the absolute gold standard and often the only test you truly need if the results come back normal. Semen Culture: This is a very helpful addition to rule out any silent asymptomatic bacterial infections in the reproductive tract. Hormone Panel: If you want a complete baseline of your reproductive hormones you can test your Total and Free TestosteroneFSHLH and Prolactin. Precautions for the Test To ensure your results are perfectly accurate please follow these steps: No Lubricants: Collect the sample purely through masturbation. Absolutely no saliva lotions or regular condoms should be used because they contain chemicals that damage or kill sperm. Sterile Collection: Only use the sterile plastic cup provided by the lab and make sure your fingers do not touch the inside of the lid or cup. Time and Temperature: If you are collecting the sample at home you must drop it off at the lab within 30 to 60 minutes. Keep the cup close to your body like in an inner pocket while traveling to maintain normal body heat. Sperm die quickly if exposed to cold air or extreme heat. Lifestyle: Skip any hot baths heavy workouts or alcohol consumption for a few days leading up to the test.
