I was feeding food to a wild outside squirrel by my hand and unintentionally it scratched (1/4th inch) my finger a little and minor blood came out.
I washed and applied medicine. I had taken a preventive tetanus shot a year BEFORE this happened (not after) . No swelling or redness.
Do I need to see a doctor or take any medicine?
CDC and WHO both state that bites or scratches from squirrels do not typically require rabies vaccination unless the animal was behaving very abnormally (e.g., attacking unprovoked, drooling, unable to move properly, etc.). If the squirrel was behaving normally and eating well you don't require anti rabies vaccination. However the final decision would be of the physician
