Thank you for your question
There are no strict rules about what to eat or not if you have a normal pregnancy and normal bloods when you conceived. However, the incidence of
diabetes in pregnancy in Indian women is higher now than it used to be because of several lifestyle factors. Eating high
sugar foods like dates or syrups and sweet drinks causes you to have swinging blood sugar levels that puts your pancreas under strain. It is better to follow a nutritionists guidance during pregnancy with a diet designed for you considering your individual risks for developing problems during pregnancy. You need a higher amount of nutrients and appropriately monitored weight gain. This does not mean eating for two. You should avoid eating food that provides poor quality nutrition e.g restaurant food, street food fast food, bakery products, sweets, fizzy drinks, alcohol, tobacco and paan masala etc. Your nutritionist will guide you regarding the quantities of various food that you need to include as well as the variety of food that can increase the quality of nutrition you take in.
