Hello Doctors, Good day! I would want to know the risks involved in giving CPR for any ASD repaired people (with device closure)  during a life emergency. Is it actually possible? How to mitigate such a scenario?!

It’s a very interesting and intriguing question. No overarching and general answers will be useful. It can be said well done CPR by a competent caregiver is associated with a better outcome.

First of all, I would like to know why are considering such an extreme step of doing CPR in an ASD closure patient (he/she must be in good shape right now). CPR is an emergency procedure given to a dying patient of circulatory arrest. Irrespective of his past condition including ASD repair, the patient needs to be given CPR if an emergency arises according to ACLS and BCLS guidelines. Hope I was able to clear some air.
