My brother's serum test reports show, the serum iron value is 282 UG dl. He is 25 years old and has been complaining about nausea, vomiting, indigestion and loss of appetite. He is feeling very weak today. 1. What does the iron value of 282 suggest ? 2. What are the risk factors if there is excess iron in the body ? 3. How good or bad is this condition and what should be the lifestyle changes that should be taken ?

Excess iron can cause GIT symptoms like your brother is suffering from. First we have to treat the actual source for this overload. Is he suffering from any other disease? Or has he been transfused blood recently? He will be needing chelating agents for the symptoms to stop. Kindly consult with me and give all the details so that i can prescribe the agent required best for your brother
