If it is your first pregnancy , and ICT negative no need to use Anti-D .
But usually this injection is given after delivery within 72 hr .
Why some doctors give is , if in early pregnancy there is any internal haemorrhage due to trauma or various other causes , there will be mixing of baby’s blood with yours therefore leading to production of which RH antibodies which crosses the placenta and baby ‘s blood cells get destroyed causing anaemia and jaundice .
Delivery is the usual time when sensitisation occurs and thus, first-born babies are usually unaffected, as antibodies have not yet formed in the mother.
