My 8 year old autistic son hasn't been sleeping well at night, through out last week. We were apprehensive about using sedatives with him, but now we feel there's no other option.
We'd like to see if we could use some safe sedatives with him. Sedatives which have comparatively lower side effects and are less addictive.
Well rather than sedation proper management approach is required. Sleep disturbances are often secondary to psychological stress. Consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and management.
Benzodiazepine gp of drugs r d sedative hypnotics which r commonly prescribed. Pls avoid it as it causes paradoxical agitation among autistic children.
Better consult a psychiatrist n obtain proper advice.
