There are few things that we might have to be careful about when you get any tooth extracted while undergoing medication with Methotrexate. -Methotrexate has been found to suppress bone healing which means wound healing might be delayed after tooth extraction. So it is recommended to have your tooth extracted in atraumatic way with proper soft tissue closure. -Certain medicines are to be avoided when you are having Methotrexate. That should be taken care of especially after your tooth extraction. The adverse effects are dose-dependent (higher the dose, higher the chances of facing complications). Thus you need to consult with your Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon about the dose of medicine that you are having. Your Oral Surgeon might discuss with your doctor or have you get a written consent from your doctor regarding safety of tooth extraction while undergoing Methotrexate or might ask for some dosage modification. Thus if all the precautions are taken then there is no harm in getting your tooth extracted. Do discuss about your complete medical history (especially the cause of you taking Methotrexate) with your Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. This will help in taking any other precautions prior tooth extraction, if needed.
