Menstrual migraine assessment criteria is based on three main features
The type of migraine: migraine without aura .
The timing of attacks in relation to menstruation: they should occur during the menstrual window, i.e. the 5-days starting two days before onset of menstruation until the third day of bleeding.
The frequency of attacks in relation to menstruation: attacks should be present in at least two out three consecutive menstruations.
The term menstrual migraine are of two types: 1. pure menstrual migraine (PMM)and 2. menstrually related migraine (MRM). Women with PMM have exclusively perimenstrual attacks, while women with MRM have additional non-menstrual attacks.
.International Headache Society Classification of Menstrual migraine 1.At least 5 attacks fulfilling Criteria B-D (B.)- Headache attacks lasting 4-72 hours (untreated or unsuccessfully treated)C. Headache has at least 2 of the following characteristics 1. unilateral location 2. pulsating quality 3. moderate or severe pain intensity 4. aggravation by or causing avoidance of routine physical activity (eg, walking or climbing stairs)D. During headache at least 1 of the following: 1. nausea and/or vomiting 2. photophobia and phonophobia E. Not attributed to another disorder
