Regarding leprosy

One year ago my father diagnosed  with leprosy. He has been taking MDT MB for last 1 year. This is his 12th month.On October 29,2021 he will finish his 1 year dose. My concern is that whether he should continue his MDT dose furthermore or not or it is his last dose. And should he examine AFB skin smear test to know whether he is fully recovered or not.

Did he underwent a biopsy and smear during the therapy and beginning of therapy? Secondary what grade of leprosy he ha? BL / LL Or BT? Ideally BL/ LL leprosy requires long term treatment and BT leprosy one year MDT Is fine?
