Breastmilk can be stored for 6 to 8 hours in room air and for 24 hours in the refrigerator.
It can be stored for weeks if kept in the freezer, but that is not recommended for home use.
If stored in the refrigerator, you can remove it and place the container in the bowl of luke warm water, and then use it once it reaches room temperature. There is no need to heat or boil the milk on the stove.
Also it is preferable to store breastmilk in steel containers, instead of plastic containers and label the containers with the time and date when it was expressed.
I wouldn't recommend storing formula milk in the refrigerator since it can easily be prepared at any time.
