Red rash on side chest and back

Hello doctors, Greetings! Please find attached two pics of my Father's skin rashes. He is 70 yrs old and diabetic. His diabetes is under good control.  It's there on his back and side chest for past 8 days. What exactly are these red scarry things? Your input is appreciated. Regards, Ishani

Appear to be shingles (Varicella zoster).Are they painful? Consult me if required.
