Query regarding a bat bite

2019-03-13 10:11:24
I had taken a full course of antirabies injection on 0,3,7,14,28. The fifth dose was completed on 25.1.19. Now I was passing through an area in bangalore and heard some screeching so I looked up and saw nothing . Now I am feeling a sting kind of pain in my finger , so I feel that maybe a bat bit my finger. If a bat indeed bit my finger what should I do? Do I need to take the two shot booster so soon?

Hi..Since you've taken a full post exposure prophylaxis in January itself (<3 months from today ) you won't need any repeat vaccination or immunoglobulin injections ..Bat rabies is not that common in Indian scenario as it is in USA ..
Next Steps
However visit a physician nearby to rule out any other bites / causes of that finger pain
Health Tips
clean the area with ample soap and water
