I m a hypothyroid and I am planning for a baby. I have brought my thyroid hormones under control through medication. Taking 50mcg eltroxin. Can I start taking folic acid. How much dosage is required to be taken before pregnancy. Pls assist

Folic acid 5mg daily atleast 90days prior to conception is adviced to prevent Down's syndrome and other neural tube defects in the fetus. Folic acid is vitamin supplements. So u can continue till u concieved and after that also. Good luck.
