Progesterone miscarriage history

I have tested positive pregnancy but due to some reason I cannot visit doc soon, I had 2 chemical pregnancy earlier.I am already taking folic acid tab from past 1 yr, can I start progesterone supplement to support the pregnancy till I visit doctor.Is there any side effects?
