All universal precautions need to be taken by the hospital staff/ doctors who would be involved in your delivery . Your baby may get hepatitis , as there is mixing of mother and baby blood during delivery. Accident trauma/ scars to the baby during delivery may again cause virus to enter baby blood. HbsAg status of baby should be checked after delivery. Also HBV may cause preterm delivery or low apgar score of baby. Post exposure prophylaxis of hep B vaccine should be given to the baby.(Active+passive immunisation) . Baby should receive vaccine and immunoglobulin within 12hrs of birth .
