PP 258 before Cataract Operation.

My Aunt's Cataract Operation is on the 6th of April. Before the operation Doctor has asked for ECG Report and Sugar Level. Her PP is 258.(She is a diabetic). Can she go ahead with the operation?ECG normal.

For cataract surgery its better if her sugars (pp) is below 180 or ideally 160 as post operation risks like infection  swellings....are reduced Cataract surgery can be peformed safely even with sugars upto 200

Pp 258 is on the higher side...please do a complete diabetic profile....fasting...pp...hba1c reports for a clearer picture and only then go ahead with surgery

Hi.. The decision is based on if the diabetic control is good or not .. Not on one particular reading .. Though 258 is slightly on the higher side , if fasting is good, and HbA1C is good,  we can still go ahead... Mostly PP of 200 is acceptable. But if all readings are high . Get sugars controlled by the diabetic doctor. Follow your treating doctors advice .
